Python for storytelling

This course is designed for journalism students. In an era of rapid technological advancement, it’s increasingly important for journalists to understand how to work with technology.

In this course, students will learn how to teach themselves Python and apply it to their journalistic work. Together, we will cover the basics of programming, web scraping, and eventually dive into data analysis and data visualization.

The program lasts 2 months and requires 8 hours a week of self-study, plus homework at the end of each module. Every two weeks we meet online to discuss the material and homework. Optionally, there are two in-person classes at the end of the program.

This course has been given as a guest lecture for the past four years at the MIJ masters of investigative journalism in Goteborg.
